Love Notes

Hi there!  This will be really quick since Granddaughter will be waking up soon.  Last night we saw the production, Seussical, at the Muny.  It was very entertaining, especially the Cat in the Hat character.  The interaction he had with the audience was so much fun and had everyone laughing.  He did a great job.  Granddaughter loved the show and talked about it all the way home.

On the subject of love.....how about this cute card.  It was one of Sally Nusbaum's Convention swaps.  She shared them with us at the crop this past Saturday.  Sorry for the glare, nor do I have the swapper's name.  The typewriter image is positioned on a background made with the Dictionary stamp.  Tap, Tap, Tap is a new stamp set in the 2014-15 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  This set contains the typewriter image and the letters that look like typewriter keys, plus six other images.  Love it!  The sentiment is from Just Sayin', which was cut out from the coordinating Word Bubble Framelits.   A bit of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding adds the finishing touch.

Must run.  Thank you so very much for stopping in today!

Birthday Lion

Hi there!  Hope your weekend was good.  I had a fantastic weekend stamping with my friends....and making new friends.  Yesterday was a bridal shower for the future daughter-in-law of our close friends.  On the down side, our granddog went home after staying with us for about a week and a half.  Sure will miss having him around for nightly walks.
Speaking of animals, how about this lion punch art card?  Cute, cute, cute!  (Pardon the glare.)  It's a swap that Sally Nusbaum received at the Stampin' Up! Convention.  She brought her swaps to the crop on Saturday to share with us.  Sorry I don't have the name of the Demo who made it.  The Designer Paper is Lullabye and the birthday embellishment is an image from Label Love, which was punched out with the Artisan Label punch.

This evening I'm taking our granddaughter out to dinner before we go see Seussical at the Muny.  With that said, must get busy on my very long to-do list.  Thank you so much for visiting today!

Serene Moonlight

Hi there and happy Friday!  Today's featured card is the last sample of the Hostess Club cards, which are exclusive to Club members only.  This card was inspired by Chat Wszelaki, who was inspired by Beth McAlexander.  You can check out Chat's card here.  (Scroll down to Jul 12 post.)  She has a link to Beth's blog so that you can view her card, too.  The "swoosh" image from Stampin' Up!s Work of Art  was inked up with Soft Sky ink.  Stamp full strength, then again without inking up the stamp.  (This is called second generation stamping.)  Serene Silhouettes and a sentiment from a new set, Something to Say, were used next.  A strip of Designer Series Paper from the Moonlight DSP Stack and Lost Lagoon Stitched Satin Ribbon finish off the card nicely.

That's all folks - hope you have a great weekend.  Thanks so much for visiting today!

Ombre Wetlands

Hi there!  Today is another sample of a card that the Club ladies made at our meeting on Tuesday.  The inspiration came from Linda Heller's Stamping School, which you can join here for a nominal fee.  She has done all the work of figuring out the measurements.  There is a video to watch, plus she has an instruction sheet with a supply list that can be printed.  This Ombre technique is a little bit of a challenge but fun to do.  Love the results!

That's it for now -  much to do before the weekend.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Modified Split Negative Technique

Hi there!  Gosh, it's already the middle of the week and there's still a lot to do to get ready for another crop on Saturday and attend a shower on Sunday!  Yesterday was our monthly Hostess Club meeting.  One of the projects the ladies made is shown above.  My inspiration came from Deb Valder's video, which can be viewed here.  It's the Split Negative technique, modified.  The stamped square from the Postage Due set is only 1-1/8".  It is easier to have the inked stamp face up on your work surface and place the squares onto the stamp.  This can get a little messy removing the squares, though.  Deb has a great tip on how to remove the squares from the stamp without getting inky fingers.  She wrapped a piece of painter's tape around her fingers (like you would to get lint off your clothes) and just picked up the squares with the tape.  Very clever!
The ladies liked the projects.  I'm so glad because I really appreciate their loyalty and support!  Thank you again, ladies!  Afterwards, we had a leisurely lunch and talked. You're kidding, right?  Women sitting around talking!  LOL

Must get busy on some household chores and determine what to take to the crop.  Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Shocking

Hi there!  Hope you had a grand weekend.  Mine was packed with fun and laughter at a crop with my stampin' peeps.  Good times!  Let's get down to business about the Card Buffet sample shown above.  My good friend offered to cut the outlet shape with her e-cutter.  Wow, did that ever make it easy for me!  The Hardwood background stamp and Crumb Cake ink from Stampin' Up! was used.  The finishing touch was the brad resembling a screw, which was purchased from a local craft store.

Must catch up on some things since I was gone most of the weekend.  Thank you so much for coming by for a visit today!

Traveler

Hi there!  Here it is another Friday.  Seems like we just did that!  How time flies when we're having fun.  Speaking of fun, today's card is another sample from our Card Buffet.  The Traveler set by Stampin' Up! was used for the train and valise images.  Love this set!  Four of the five In Color inks were used, giving the card more of a vintage look.  It's a little difficult to see the vertical strip under the postage stamps that was embossed with the Stylish Stripes embossing folder.  The train image was stamped, cut out with a Circle Framelit, and adhered to the World Map background.  Some of the ladies at our Buffet did a little moaning (all in fun, of course) because the valise required fussy cutting.

Must sign off now to finish getting ready for two days of fun with my stampin' peeps.  Have a great weekend and thank you so much for stopping by for a look today!

All Stampin' Up! supplies used unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Postage Due, Traveler, World Map

Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Crumb Cake, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Soft Suede
Tools:  Circle Framelits, Stylish Stripes embossing folder, Postage Stamp punch, scissors

Let's Talk

Hi there!  Hope you're having a good week so far.  Mine has been pretty busy with the Card Buffet on Tuesday, having our granddaughter spend the night last night, and preparing for a crop this weekend.  So, let's move on to the card.  One of our regular Buffet attendees requested cards for teens or tweens.  What young person doesn't have a phone these days?  This is Allison Okamitsu's card that I CASE'd, with a few changes to make it my own.

Must get going.  Thank you for stopping in today!

Work of Art

Hi there!  Mary Taylor and I had another great Card Buffet yesterday!  Thank you soooo much ladies!  You're the BEST!  Here is one of the selections displayed on our Buffet.  An e-cutter was used to cut out the palette, making this a super fast card.  All five of Stampin' Up!s new In Colors were used for the "paint" splotches, which were applied with sponge daubers.

Must sign off now to tackle some neglected household chores.  Thanks for visiting today!

Baseball Fever!

Hi there!  Today Mary Taylor and I have another Card Buffet so this will be a quick post.  Here is one of the cards from our Buffet line-up, which has been popular.  (St. Louisians love their baseball.)  My inspiration came from this card posted on Paper Ecstasy's blog.  She doesn't list her name anywhere on the blog - only her friend's name, who is a Demonstrator.  (If you find out her name, please let me know.)  The Night of Navy card base was cut from the Circle Thinlits Die.  A template was used to draw a line for the "stitching".  Are you thinking the Chevron punch was used for the "stitching"?  Nope!  They were cut from one of the dies included with the Circle Thinlits and are smaller than those from the Chevron punch. The rest of the card is pretty self-explanatory.  If you have any questions about anything, though, please feel free to contact me.

Must get going!  Thank you for visiting today!

Zoo Babies

Hi there!  We had a full house at our Buffet yesterday and lots of laughs!  Thank you ladies for making it so fun for us, too.  One of our ladies recently became a first time grandma.  Above is the card I made to accompany a gift for her sweet grandbaby.  The giraffe is just one of ten adorable images from the Zoo Babies set.  Cute, cute set!  Her mane is from a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock.  (A pink giraffe has to be a girl, right?)  A little snipping down the length helps to achieve the look of a mane.  Her eye is a pearl, which has been colored with a black Sharpie.  The background panel was embossed with the Large Polka Dot embossing folder.  Love it!  You can find these products in the new 2014-15 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.

Must get busy cutting paper to replinish my supply for our Buffet tomorrow.  Have a good one and thanks for coming by today!

Gorgeous Grunge

Hi there and happy Friday!  Just popping in real quick - lots of errands to run today.  So....for the card.  It is super simple.  The lines were made from an image in the Gorgeous Grunge set.  Such a versatile set.  Island Indigo flowers punched out from the now retired Itty Bitty Punch Pack were lined up horizontally.  A sentiment was added to the focal panel, then adhered to the Island Indigo card base.  Ta da!  A clean and simple card.

That's it, must get going.  Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping in today!

Low Sodium Diet

Hi there and happy Monday!  Hope you had a great weekend with family and friends.  I sure did!  You're probably wondering what a low sodium diet has to do with cards, huh?  Well, it involves the salt background technique.  Last week when our granddaughter spent the night, she made a container to hold salt.  (It's interesting how that 7 year old mind works!)  So not wanting to waste the salt, Grandma suggested trying the technique where salt is sprinkled onto watercolor paper that has been saturated with water, then drops of reinkers are added - Pink Pirouette and Rose Red used for this sample.  We let the backgrounds dry overnight.  A paper towel was used to brush off the excess salt before she stamped images onto the backgrounds.  The above card uses the flower from Stampin' Up!s Regarding Dahlia and the sentiment is from Happy Watercolor (now retired).

The next card uses Perfect Plum and Bermuda Bay reinkers.  The sentiment is from another retired set, Best of Greetings.  I'd say Granddaughter has an eye for color because she chose every color all by herself.  She also chose what she wanted to stamp on each card since she was making these cards for family members.  She loves to make things for people.
Here is her last card, which uses Strawberry Slush and Calypso Coral reinkers.  Not totally sure about the colors.  The sentiment is from Happy Watercolor.

That's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Birthday, America!

Hi there!  Hope everyone is having a fun and safe 4th of July!  This morning we attended a local parade and then went to the park for some fun entertainment.  What a gorgeous day and pleasant temperatures.  So unlike last year!  In honor of today's celebration is a clean and simple card made with Stampin' Up!s Work of Art stamp set.  The solid blue and red stripes are made with images from the set.  (Who'd a thought, huh?)  The stars are from a new punch in the Itty Bitty Accessory Pack

That's it for now.  Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping in today!
