Open Sea Reflections

Hi there and happy Friday!  Are you ready for the holiday weekend?  Mine will be rather quiet but busy working on projects.  Speaking of projects, the one above was a make-n-take for my Hostess Club members.  There are several ways to achieve the look of a "reflection".  Using wax paper is one way that is super easy.  I learned how to do this technique as an on-line member of Linda Heller's Stamping School.  The supplies used are listed below.

Need to get to the grocery store before starting on projects and before the stores get crowded.  Seems we're out of the basics - like milk, eggs, bread.....  Hope you have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Stampin' Up! supplies used unless otherwise noted.
Stamps: Open Sea, Work of Art, World Map
Paper: Black, Marina Mist, White
Ink: Marina Mist. Memento Tuxedo Black
Tools:  1-1/4” circle punch, 1-3/8” circle punch
Other:  wax paper, clear blocks

Gifts of Kindness

Hi there!  Had quite a night last night due to the storm that hit our area!  You can read about it below if you're interested.  But for now, I'd like to share another card Mary Taylor displayed at our Card Buffet.  She used Gifts of Kindness (by Stampin' Up!) and one of the new In Colors, Lost Lagoon.  The butterfly from Papillon Potpourri was punched out with the coordinating Bitty Butterfly Punch.  It's a clean and simple card.  Love it!

OK, so here's the unabridged version of the story.  I was meeting Jayne Singleton to ride along with her to Arnold for our Christmas Card Workshop meeting with the rest of the team.  Well traffic came to a halt on the interstate, so I took a detour.  Just as I was getting out of my car to get into Jayne's, the sky broke loose and it downpoured!  We had to get back onto the jammed-up interstate to get to our destination, Applebee's in Arnold, to meet up with the girls.  There were a lot of phone calls and texting in that hour of transit while they waited for us.  The girls were enjoying drinks and chatting when all of a sudden, the power went out!  Management told them to finish their drinks (on the house since there was no power) then they had to leave.  We ended up meeting them just across the highway at another restaurant that did have power.  It was strange how the area was randomly affected by the outage.  Well, guess who had no power when they got home a few hours later?  Yep, yours truly!  AmerenMO was on our street when I pulled into the subdivision.  (That was a good sign - they were on the case!)  Hubby and Rocky (granddog) were just hanging out in the dark.  I took Rocky for his (our) nightly walk and noticed electric had been restored to some of the houses on our street.  What???  Then the Ameren trucks started rumbling past us and I'm silently praying for them not to leave yet because it was still dark in the cul-de-sac where we live.  One of the trucks stopped and the driver informed me that they thought the problem was fixed and our power should be restored soon.  (Certainly hope so was my thought!)  Well just as Rocky and I were finishing our walk and going up our driveway, the electric was restored!  Hallelujah!  What a night!

Thanks for hanging in there on this long post and for visiting today!  It's always a pleasure to share with you!

Blooming Wedding

Hi there!  Today I'm sharing a sample made by Mary Taylor, who is the other half of the Card Buffet team.  This is such a stunning card and can be used for other ocassions just by changing the sentiment.  She used the flower image from Blooming with Kindness.  The sentiment from Label Love is matted on a black piece punched from the Label Bracket punch, then adhered to an image from Chalk Talk and cut out with the coordinating Framelit.  The Modern Mosaic embossing folder was used on the white embossed panel.

This evening we have a Christmas Card Workshop team meeting.  Must get some things done before it's time to leave.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Wetlands Work of Art

Hi there!  Maybe today's card will have you thinking cool thoughts.  lol  It was a popular selection on our Card Buffet, which I CASE'd (Copy And Share Everything) from Billie Moan.  She posts two color versions on her blog, Rambling Rose Studio.  You can view Billie's cards here (scroll down to May 5th & May 3rd posts).  Very clever use of the "swish" image from Work of Art.   Love how well the combination of Smoky Slate and Coastal Cabana works together, too.

Paper: Smoky Slate, Coastal Cabana, White
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Memento Black, Smoky Slate

Sea Street

Hi there and happy Friday!  This sure has been a busy summer, which equates to sporadic posting.  But I'm here today with another Card Buffet display sample.  Amy Koenders had the cutest card so I had to CASE it!  (Copy And Share Everything)  You can view her card here (scroll down to June 4).  There were just a few minor changes made to my card - like the octopus being a different color and the rhinestone "bubbles" were omitted.   I did add pearls for the eyes, however, which were colored with a black Sharpie.

Must get busy with some household chores and finish packing for Club tomorrow.  Have a great weekend and thank you for coming by today!

From the Flower Patch

Hi there!  Didn't get a chance to post yesterday since it was our Card Buffet.  Thank you ladies for a wonderful day!  So, today I have one of the samples from our Card Buffet display board using the photopolymer set, Flower Patch.  The Flower Fair Framelits coordinate with this set.  Love that!  To achieve the partially embossed background, only a portion of the cardstock (about two thirds) was placed in the folder.  Stampin' Up!s Simply Scored Scoring Tool was used for the horizontal lines.  Be sure to lay your focal piece wrong side up on the score board, if you want the raised lines to show on the front.  Another tip, this time for stamping with photopolymer stamps, is to have a foam mat under your cardstock when stamping.  This will help to attain even coverage of the ink.

Must take the granddog for a walk.  Thank you so much for visiting today!

Stamps: Flower Patch, Fabulous Four
Paper:  White, Pear Pizzazz
Ink: Pear Pizzazz, Strawberry Slush
Tools:  Large Polka Dot embossing folder, Flower Fair Framelits, Simply Scored ScoringTool
Other:  Dimensionals, sponges (to ink edges of leaves), foam mat, clear blocks

In the Bag

Hi there!  Sorry for not posting last week.  There just wasn't enough time to schedule posts before leaving town.  Sure did have a great time with my friends at the girls getaway retreat!  There were a LOT of laughs, delicious meals, and wonderful movies.  (Yep we watch movies there, too.)  Such a  fun and relaxing time!  Now it's time to get back to business so here is a little gift bag and tag that I made using Sam Donal's video instructions.  You can view her video here.  She has some great projects!  The River Rock Designer Series Paper and Vanilla Grosgrain Ribbon are retired Stampin' Up! products.  Items used on the tag are current, though.  The tag was made with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, then stamped with the flourish image from the Everything Eleanor set.  Flower embellishments were made with the Petite Petal Punch, the flower from the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, and some Pearls.  Oh, and everything was sponged to give it a vintage feel.

Must get going to finish unloading the car and get ready for tomorrows Card Buffet.  Thank you so much for coming by today!

Pelican Punch Art

Hi there!  Another busy week zipped by, which is why I didn't get a chance to post Thursday or Friday.  Mary Taylor and I had our Card Buffet on Saturday.  Thank you ladies for coming and your patience waiting for the boxes!
Today's card is one that Sally Nusbaum took to the Stampin' Up! Convention to swap.  (Sorry for the glare.  Didn't want to remove the protective cover and take a chance of getting it dirty.)  That pelican is just too cute!  She received some really cute cards in return.
Tomorrow I'll be heading out of town for the girls getaway retreat.  Can't wait!  Today consists of gathering supplies for projects and packing/loading everything.  Well, not everything!  lol  Need to make sure there will be room for our granddog on the trip home Sunday.  He'll be staying with us for a bit.  Looking forward to that, too!
My plan is to schedule some posts ahead of time but that will depend how things progress today.  So if there aren't any posts the rest of the week, you'll know why.
Must get busy now!  Thank you so much for stopping in today!

Getting Down to Business

Hi there and happy Monday!  Wow, what a great turnout for Laurie's Line-Up held Saturday at DeLeo's!  Jayne Singleton coordinates this service project event with Card Care Connection, which is a local non-profit organization.  Their volunteers compose compassionate and motivational messages on the inside of our handmade cards, which are then mailed out to cancer patients.  We made 224 cards!  Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to assemble cards or donated cards/supplies for this worthwhile cause!

Changing gears now, let me tell you about the business card keeper shown above.  Mary Taylor, my friend and downline, saw mine and asked for the directions so she could make some.  I didn't have any instructions as to how it was made since my business card holder was a gift from Pam D'Urso, my former upline.  Then the idea struck me to make one for Mary and write up some instructions at the same time.  Here's a look at the inside.
For the instructions:
Base:
2-3/4” x 11”
With 11” side against top rail of score board, score at 2-12” and 2-34”; flip to score from other end at 4” and 4-1/4”.

Inside pocket:
5-1/2” x 4” – with the 5-1/2” side at top rail of score board, score at 1-1/2” on both sides.
With the 4” side against top rail, score at 1/2”.
Use circle punch to nip out a portion at top of “pocket” for easier access to business cards.
Fold and crease score lines.
Adhere the overlap in back of pocket.  Secure pocket to inside of base (11” long piece).  Smallest portion of base will be at top.

Decorate with cardstock colors that coordinates with project piece.
Decorative rectangle flap is 2-1/2” x 3-1/2”.  The flap overhangs the front about 1-1/4”.
Base piece is 2-1/2” x 3-1/2”.
White decorated piece is 2” x 3”

Ok, must get busy cutting paper for our Card Buffet this coming Saturday.  Thank you for stopping by for a visit today!  You're always welcome!
