The Open Sea

Hi there!  It's been a busy time since my last post.  My oldest daughter, who lives in Miami, was visiting and staying with me for the birth of my grandson/her nephew.  He finally arrived Thursday morning (2-25-16) at 6:02 am, weighing in at 8 pounds 1 ounce!  We are beyond thrilled!  Momma and baby are now home, as of yesterday.  Not sure how consistent posting will be, but I'll try to do better. 

Soooo, here is a card that was in my Card Buffet line-up.  The Open Sea (by Stampin' Up!) was the stamp set used for this masculine card.  We need more of those, right?  The outside sentiment came from the set, Fabulous Four.  The color scheme is Night of Navy, Real Red, and Crumb Cake.

By the Tide Triple Time

Hi there!  This evening is the Stampin' Up! Catalog Kickoff simulcast event held at the Gravois Bluffs movie theatre!  We'll receive our new 2015 Occasions and Sale-a-Bration Catalogs, plus a free stamp set!  So much FUN - can't wait!
But for now, shown above is one of the cards the Hostess Club girls made this past Sunday.  It is the triple time stamping technique using the By the Tide stamp set.  The colors used in the sample are Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe.  This is such an easy technique!  You can view Dawn Olchefske's video HERE to see how it is done and for the measurements.

Under the Sea

Hi there and happy Friday!  My apologies for not posting yesterday - just ran out of time.  I'm back with one of the numerous swaps Sally Nusbaum shared with us when she returned from the Stampin' Up! Convention.  What you can't tell from the picture, is that the octopus travels around the circular channel.  Cool, huh?  Most of the stamped images are from Sea Street.  The sentiment is from the Yippee-Skippee set.  Lullaby Designer Series Paper was used for the semi-circle of gold fish (heat embossed with gold embossing powder) and for the "sand".  A very cute and creative card!

Maritime Traveler

Hi there!  Today's card is one of the make n takes from our New Catalog Open House that Mary Taylor and I hosted on May 31.  The ship image is from the Traveler set, which can be found in Stampin' Up!s new 2014-15 Annual Catalog.  (See below for other images that are in this set.)  The strip of Designer Series Paper is Maritime and the background panel was textured with the Argyle embossing folder.  My sample was totally CASE'd (Copy And Share Everything) from Sally Nusbaum's card.

In the Kitchen... and a Technique!

Hi there!  Yesterday I ended up being in the kitchen most of the day, so the blog was neglected.  Something had to be done with the food in the fridge before it went bad.  Made some beef barley soup and crock pot zucchini bread.  All that grating, chopping, measuring, dishwashing, etc took a long time!  lol  Since it was way past my lunch time, I also made some healthy (?) nachos.  I  reserved a little of the cooked ground beef that was for the soup to add to my cheese smothered tortilla chips.  Then piled on some healthy baby spring mix lettuce and tomatoes.  It was yummy!  Kind of makes up for the cookies consumed on the 4th while stamping at my friend's house.  Not!

Today I spent some time in the studio creating.  I tried the ink blowing technique, where reinker is dropped onto white or other light colored cardstock and blown around with a drinking straw.  (Yep, working with some expensive tools here!)  Just do 2-3 drops at a time.  Otherwise the ink will dry before you get to it.  No two designs will be the same.  Give it a try.  Rest a little in between colors so you don't get lightheaded.  We don't want anyone fainting!  So here is the card I made with this technique.  It resembled some sort of sea life to me so that is what inspired a nautical theme.

The "compass" was made with the Clockworks and The Open Sea sets.  The screw brads around the "port hole" were from my non-Stampin' Up! stash.  I'm not crazy about this card but thought I'd show you what can be done.  So have fun with this technique.

Gettin' Nautical

Hi there!  Shocked to see a post from me on Saturday?  Don't get used to it!  lol

Today I have another masculine card to share with you.  I've had it in my stash for some time now (made at one of Pam D'Urso's Demo Stamp Camps before she moved) and decided to send it to our nephew-in-law, who is into boating.   I think he'll appreciate it!  The Sail Away stamp set (from the 2011 Summer Mini catalog) is now retired - as well as the Nautical Expedition DSP and game spinner hands.  The compass image is from the Open Sea set.  How clever of Pam to use a game spinner hand on the compass!

Happy Friday to you!  This will be quick.  I'm running errands today, remember?  LOL
Here is a card I made with my weekly stamp group, The Wednesday Girls.  They made it last week (I was home packing for the retreat) so I CASEd it this week, with a couple of minor changes.  They used the compass on the Cherry Cobbler strip and wrapped it with Early Espresso Baker's twine.  Oh, they also used a non-SU! striped paper.  Sorry, I don't know where the original idea came from.
