Thank You

Hi there.  Just wanted to express my gratitude and say thank you to everyone for all the prayers, condolences, cards, and hugs received during my sister's battle with cancer and her untimely death on Saturday, June 23.  I flew to Florida on June 4th and stayed with my daughter.  Together we made the three hour drive a couple of times to visit with my sister, Deb.  I am so thankful for those visits because her condition deteriorated very rapidly.

Here we are having a little party in her bedroom.  My daughter, my brother, his wife, and I had margaritas to celebrate Deb's life.  Deb is having tea - but in a margarita glass so she doesn't feel left out.  Deb was having a good day that day and joked right along with us.  She really had us going at her some of her one-liners.
So to all you smokers out there...QUIT!   My mom was 58 when she died from lung cancer.  Deb was 57.

My  awesome Pieces of Heart Stampin' Sisters had this beautiful plant sent to me.  I was (and still am) very touched by the outpouring of love and support - and for the beautiful handmade cards I've received from all of my friends.  Thank you so much ladies!

Last weekend I attended the "Little House on the Prairie" Stamping Retreat in Mahomet, IL.  Our hostess, Pam D'Urso, graciously opened her home to eleven of us for some stamping fun and provided meals!  It was awesome - we had such a good time.  Pam is definitely the hostess with the mostess!  We had a shoebox swap on Saturday.  I will share pics of those cards at some point.  Unfortunately for me, this event was overshadowed by the sad news received of Deb's passing early Sunday morning.
I don't know how often I'll post.  I'm just taking one day at a time.  But now you know the reason for my absence.

Thank you for coming by - I do appreciate your visits.

I think my body is rebelling against me!  Sunday I wasn't feeling "quite right" so decided to lie down for a little nap after our Father's Day festivities.  Well, that's where I stayed til morning - and two days after that!   Can't decide if it was the flu or what.  Whatever it was, it certainly knocked me for a loop!   I am on the mend and my leg is much better, too. (I can almost walk normal.)  I HAVE to get well - can't miss the Little House on the Prairie Stamping Retreat this weekend!  Pam D'Urso, our Pieces of Heart upline, is hosting this retreat in her new home.  We are having a shoebox swap, too.  It's going to be great fun - guaranteed!

Must run...so much to catch up on.  I even missed hanging with the Wed girls today.  Thank you for stopping in today!

Betsy's Blossoms

Hi there!  Here is card number two from Stamp Camp this past Saturday.

The Betsy's Blossoms stamp set, Floral District DSP, Gumball Green ink, and Daffodil Delight 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon (all new products) was used for this card.  I'm really liking the new firm foam pads.  They take a little getting used to but well worth the learning curve!

Bright Blossoms

Hi there and happy Monday!
Here is one of the projects from Stamp Camp held this past Saturday.

A big heartfelt thank you goes out to the awesome group of gals who attended!!!  They were so understanding when I had to reschedule the date for an emergency trip out of town.  Then the night before Camp, I thought I would have to reschedule a second time because of an injury sustained while trying to kill a spider...on the ceiling.  Just before going to bed, I spied that little guy right over the bed!  There was no way he could be in the same room - especially over my bed!  I'd probably end up swallowing him in my sleep. Gross!  I stood on the bed to reach him then lost my balance and came down hard on the floor bearing all my weight on my right foot. The shock of that was a major spasm or charlie horse in the calf area, which radiated up and down my leg.  I could not bear any weight on my right leg.  I took some aspirin, used a heating pad, and went to bed.  Fortunately, it was better in the morning and I could at least drag my leg to walk.  It was slow going, though.  The girls were very patient with me!  A special thank you to my wonderful friend who practically unloaded/reloaded the car for me and set up.  What a blessing to have a friend like her!  Thanks, girlfriend!
Oh...I did get that spider in case you were wondering!

Stamps: Bright Blossoms, Bring on the Cake (sentiment)
Paper: Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, White, Summer Smooches DSP
Ink: Real Red pad, Markers = Real Red, Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight
Tools:  Clear Scallop Square die, Postage Stamp Punch, Stripes Embossing Folder, Scallop Border Punch, 3/4” square punch to make flag end, acrylic block, Dimensionals

Hello Kitty

Hi there!  Today's post is of the card I gave our granddaughter for her birthday yesterday.  A friend made the card in a class and was a sweetie to let me have it for our granddaughter's special day.  (I did add the number 5 to Miss Kitty's bow.  lol)  Such a cute card and made with just a few punches.  Unfortunately, the butterfly punch used for the bow is now retired.

Must run to finish up for my Stamp Camp tomorrow.  Have a great weekend and thank you for coming by today!

Patriotic

Hi there!  Popping in real quick to post this patriotic card made from the Sizzix Star die.  Kay Kalthoff inspired me to use the negative piece that was left after cutting out stars for another project.  She suggested using the leftover as a focal piece.  Great idea - no waste!  Additional stars were added inside the cut-out areas and a little Bakers twine wrapped around the bottom completed this easy card. The Glimmer paper star looks so much better in real life.   I'll probably add a tag with a sentiment and hang from the twine - when I decide who the recipient will be.
The 3-D stars flanking the card were made from the largest star.  On the back side of the star, score from each point all the way down.  Gently fold on the score lines.  You may have to work with it a bit to shape it, but it will come together.  They'd look great as a decorative banner for the 4th of July or even ornaments for the tree.  See what you can come up with!

That's all for now.  Thank you for stopping in today!

Who Can Resist Elements of Style?

Hi there!  Sorry but this is a super quick post!  Just wanted to show you another card made over the holiday weekend using the resist technique.  Saw this card on Pinterest....yeah, I'm hooked!  Anyway, I'll have to look up who did it when there is more time.  Stamp the image on a White 3 x 4-3/4 panel using Versamark, then  heat emboss with Black embossing powder.  Make tic marks with a pencil to section off four equal portions.  Use the brush tip of your Stampin' Write markers (Soft Suede, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, and Marina Mist) to add color.  Adhere the panel to a White card base then wrap it with Early Espresso Bakers Twine.  Stamp your sentiment, then add the butterflies.  It was a pretty easy card, actually.  The next one will be even faster!
Edited to add:  The name of person who I CASE'd is Darlene find her card here.

Must run - thank you for stopping in!

Neutral Note

Hi there! Another quick post.  I played in my stamp room over the Memorial holiday weekend. There were different components sitting on my desk so this kinda just came together.  You can't really see in the photo, but the card base has been stamped in Early Espresso with the same stamp as the focal piece.  Something just seemed to be lacking until I added the lines around the Top Note.  What a difference such a simple thing like that makes!

Stamp: Mixed Bunch
Paper: Early Espresso, White, Crumb Cake
Ink: Early Espresso
Other: Top Note die, Blossom punch, Boho Blossom punch, Itty Bitty punch pack, standard hole punch, Crumb Cake seam binding,

That's all for now.  Thank you for coming by today!
