Fancy Fold Valentine

Hi there!  Hope you had a great weekend.  Mine sure went by fast and it was a busy one.  Many thanks to the wonderful ladies who attended our Card Buffet on Saturday!  What a fun time we had!
Yesterday the youngest daughter and I baked Christmas cookies all day.  We made approximately 58 dozen.  That's a whole lot of baking!  We both were beat by the time we finished but we enjoyed our time together.

Valentines Day will be here before you know it.  Thus, my card choice for the Hostess Club members last month.  Cindy Williams' swap card was my inspiration, only hers was a Christmas card.  The Red Glimmer heart is on a strip of acetate that gives the illusion of a floating heart.  Small Red Glimmer hearts are repeated in the lower border strip.  A closure was made using an image from A Round Array and punching it out with circle punches.

Mary Taylor and I will be hosting a 2015 Calendar Class at DeLeo's in Florissant, MO on December 21 (for those who want to make last minute Christmas gifts or a gift for yourself).  A second class is planned for January 4, 2015.  If you would like to attend, please contact me.  (See side bar or header for contact info.)  RSVP's are required as class is limited to 20.

Must get going on my to-do list.  Thanks so much for popping in today!

Watercolor Happy

Hi there and happy Friday!  Quick post so I can finish a few things around here before heading out early to our Demonstrator holiday party that Sally Nusbaum has organized for this evening!  Woo Hoo!
So, here is another card using a portion of the watercolor background made with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  You can see how that was done HERE.  The sentiment from the Yippee-Skippee! stamp set by Stampin' Up! is layered onto Pool Party and Pumpkin Pie mats cut out with the Deco Label Framelits.  A Pumpkin Pie sawtooth border strip was made using the Finishing Touches Edgelit.  The Rich Razzelberry card base contrasts nicely with all the colors (and a color that has been neglected lately).  A bit of Pool Party 1/4" Cotton Ribbon finishes off the card.  This ribbon is really nice to work with, too!

Must get going.  Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for stopping in today!

Ombre Wetlands

Hi there!  Today is another sample of a card that the Club ladies made at our meeting on Tuesday.  The inspiration came from Linda Heller's Stamping School, which you can join here for a nominal fee.  She has done all the work of figuring out the measurements.  There is a video to watch, plus she has an instruction sheet with a supply list that can be printed.  This Ombre technique is a little bit of a challenge but fun to do.  Love the results!

That's it for now -  much to do before the weekend.  Thank you for stopping by today!

Simply Sketched

Hi there!  Here we are with another week behind us.  Hope you had a great weekend.  Since I spent time with my stamping peeps this weekend, mine was great!  Speaking of stamping, let's get to the reason you popped in....the card.  I used a couple of neutral colored stamp pads and swiped them across a half sheet of Vanilla cardstock, then punched out a circle. (Hence the technique name, direct to paper.)  The bird image from Simply Sketched was stamped in Early Espresso ink, then colored with a bit of Pool Party ink using an Aquapen.  The grass image from Love and Sympathy was inked with a marker (omit the flower portion) and matted onto an Early Espresso square - on point.  The Decorative Dots embossing folder was used for the background panel and the banner sentiment is from a new set, Work of Art.  This set will be available in the 2014-15 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog June 2nd.  (Love the new catalog!)

Must get back to some projects.  Thank you so much for dropping by today!

See Ya Later, Alligator

Hi there!  Hope you're having a good week.  We're having a bit of a warming trend here.  Tomorrow it's supposed to get up to 60!  Woo Hoo!  OK, enough about the weather.  This card cracks me up - just something about those 'gators.  I was inspired by Amanda Burditt's card to use the alligator image from Zoo Babies (click here and scroll down to Jan 6 to see her card) paired with the alligator from See Ya Later, a Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration freebie.  The Decorative Dots embossing folder (another freebie) was a natural choice, in my opinion, for some added texture.  Kind of reminds me of alligator skin.  Ha!
You have until March 31st to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration.   If you need a Demonstrator, I'd be happy to help you!  Shoot me an email or call.  You can also place an on-line order here.  Thanks in advance!

Signing off for now.  Thank you for coming by for a visit today!

Love You to the Moon

Hi there and Happy Valentine's Day!  We're getting snow....again, which may keep a lot of couples home tonight rather than go out to celebrate the day of love.  Mother Nature has certainly been wicked this year!
Since it's Valentine's Day, I'm sharing an appropriate card made with Love You to the Moon.  This stamp set can be found in the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog.  When I saw this set, I knew it had to be mine.  My granddaughter and I use that expression to each other, so it was perfect for her card.  (Just noticed that my stamping is a bit wonky.  Well, that's just so you know we Demonstrators are not perfect like some seem to think!  Ha!)  The "moon" is a Basic Gray circle embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  Love this new embossing folder!  I flipped it over to use the debossed side to mimic the craters of the moon.  The "clouds"  were cut out with the Word Bubbles Framelits.  A bit of Soft Sky ink was added to the edges for more definition.

OK, that's all for today.  Hope you have a great weekend and thank you so much for peeking in today!

Love and Sympathy Swap

Hi there!  Hope everyone had a good weekend.  There was a lot of partying in conjunction with the Super Bowl yesterday - despite the weather!   Mary Taylor and I felt it was in everyone's best interest to reschedule our Card Buffet for Feb 15 due to the icy conditions.  Saturday it rained all day, then the temperature dropped below freezing that evening.  It isn't going to get above freezing all week!  I stayed all cozy and warm in the studio working on future projects.  Speaking of projects, how about a couple since I didn't get a chance to post Friday?  The first card was Diane Mikle's shoebox swap.  She used the Love & Sympathy set, which is a great set made for these occasions.  The background panel was embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  This is just one of the Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration products that can be earned FREE with a $50 purchase (excluding tax and s/h).  The stamped sentiment was cut out from a new Occasions Catalog item, Starburst Framelits die.  This was then matted onto a piece cut from Midnight Muse with the Deco Label Framelits.  Such a beautiful card.

Here is Kim Coulter's swap.
The honeycomb background was cut from a new item, Hexagon Hive Thinlits die, which can be found on page 26 of the 2014 Occasions Catalog.  The flower and bee images on the focal piece can also be found in the Occasions Catalog (page 21), called Springtime Hello.  A hostess set in the annual catalog, Express Yourself, was used for the sentiment.  The Tea Lace Paper Doily, Linen Thread, and pearls finish off this stunning card.

That's it for now.  Your visit today is very much appreciated!  Thank you!

People Like You

Hi there!  What a great day we had yesterday temperature-wise and fun-wise at our Card Buffet!  Thank you all so much for coming out to support us!  Our February Buffet is next Sunday, Feb 2 at DeLeo's in Florissant from 11 am - 4 pm.  (Yikes! Can you believe next week is February already?)  We were limited on dates because of our schedules and the availability of the room.  Soooo, next week it is!  Come on out and join us on Superbowl Sunday if you're not a football fan or attending Superbowl parties.  We'll have our own Super fun!
Last week I promised to show you the shoebox swaps from our girls weekend retreat.  The first card above is Cheryl Renth's swap showcasing a new set from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog called People Like You.  It required some watercoloring (on watercolor paper), which is not my forte but I really like this set.  The embossed panel is the new Decorative Dots embossing folder.  Love it!  The colors used for this card are Garden Green, Pistachio Pudding, and Cantaloupe Crisp.  The sentiment is part of the set, too.

Sale-a-bration starts tomorrow!  Woo hoo!  That means you earn a FREE stamp set for every $50 you spend!  If you'd like to place an order and do not have a Demonstrator, please contact me or order from my online store here.

Thank you so much for stopping in today!
